The Music Department at Chepstow School is a thriving hub of activity.
As well as all the usual lessons for Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level and BTEC Level 3, there are countless ensembles performing regularly throughout the year.
Recent performances have included: Swing Band performing at Chepstow Castle; a large scale Spring Concert featuring Orchestra, String Orchestra, Folk Group, Choir, Barbershop, Swing Band and numerous other bands; and a four day tour to Belgium, including the opportunity to perform at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.
Every year the Music Department takes an active role in a whole school show. Recent productions have been:-
- Les Miserables (2007)
- Sound of Music (2008)
- Wizard of Oz (2009)
- Scrooge (2010).
We are currently performing West Side Story.
The department is well supported and augmented by Gwent Music Service. A large number of peripatetic teachers regularly visit the school, giving instrumental lessons and encouraging the growth of the music department even further.
