Special Educational Needs
Some students need particular help due to learning or behavioural difficulties. We have a special group of staff who take particular care of these students.
Our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator), Mrs. Carol Jones, works closely with Learning Support teachers, Learning Support assistants and our Youth Access Worker to identify problems and find ways to help. Support may be in class or by withdrawal from lessons. We also work with an Educational Psychologist and other agencies.
We have the Basic Skills Quality Mark. Support for literacy and numeracy includes catch-up work with Year 7 and 8, the Better Reading Partnership with Sixth Form students and Successmaker. Students with behavioural and emotional difficulties work with the Solutions and Success team (SAS).
Disabled Access
Each need is individually assessed and a risk assessment carried out to ensure necessary arrangements are in place. Our site has full wheel chair access.
Safeguarding.
Chepstow School is committed to safeguarding. If there are any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of any young person in school, these concerns should be reported to the designated members of staff straight away:-
Jacky Wilson - Deputy Headteacher
Victoria Duke - Assistant Headteacher
Carol Jones - SENco.
